Most memorable piece of music journalism: Once, when interviewing neo thrash band Trivium, John got so drunk that the lead singer of Dragonforce had to take over asking the questions while he got thrown out of the interview. To compound matters he then had a fight with some muggers in Shepherd’s Bush sustaining a stab wound to the hand. Then he had to run away from some helpful members of the local constabulary who wanted to arrest him for overly demonstrative behaviour. This said the memory is more hazy than memorable.
Favourite piece of music trivia: Nik Fiend from acid munching 80s goths Alien Sex Fiend and Anita Mahadervan of ‘I Eat Cannibals’ writing one hit wonders Total Coelo, were both children of Countdown host, Bob Holness. Who had nothing to do with the saxophone solo on
Habitat: Originally from Merseyside and having lived in
Favourite Current Albums:
Neon Neon ‘Stainless Style’,
Fuck Buttons ‘Street Horrrsing’,
Hercules and Love Affair ‘Hercules and Love Affair’,
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ‘Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!’,
Overmars ‘Born Again’
Poison: A compromise has been reached with his doctor and now it is nothing stronger than real ale, even though it tastes like muddy water and he would sooner have a Wray and Nephews over proofed rum.
Hobbies: A bit of DJing at his monthly club night

Name: Luke Turner (Deputy Editor)

Publications: PlayLouder, The Stool Pigeon, Dazed & Confused, DrownedInSound, Dotmusic, Orange, New Woman, Nerve.com, 6music and various obscure non-musical non-entities.
Most memorable piece of music journalism:
Sending a death threat to an Antipodean ABBA tribute band in a fit of pique. Unfortunately I was apparently a far more talented death threat writer than I’d given myself credit for, and Interpol followed the electronic trail from Australia to Norwich. They arrived in the form of a large file cradled in the arms of a portly member of the Norfolk Constabulary.
Favourite piece of music trivia: Masterchef host and pasta sauce salesman Lloyd Grossman was the lead singer in punk act Jet Bronx And The Forbidden, who reached number 49 in the hit parade in 1977 with their single ‘Ain’t Doin’ Nothing’.
Habitat: I’ve been a migratory creature due to my old man following John Wesley around the country (without the horse). Sermons are currently held off the Lower Clapton Road, Hackney.
Favourite Current Albums:
British Sea Power – Do You Like Rock Music?
OMD – Dazzle Ships (reissue)
Artery - Live At Meltdown
Aidan John Moffat – I Can Hear Your Heart
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!
Poison: Real ale and pork pies. Last year I simultaneously discovered a fantastic Welsh ale and a pork pie that was almost the same diameter as the face of the bloke from Keane yet cost only 1.20. After consuming plenty of the former and the whole of the latter I had gristly premonitions of a heart that’d turned into that mysterious gelatinous matter, and now ration myself to one pork pie a month. Ale flows unrestricted.
Hobbies: Whims and flights of fancy not dissimilar to Toad. As it is, model-making, completing the Pennine Way, crocheting etc generally become consumed by this lark, the anguish of trying to work out which Fall album is my favourite, and attending to the demands of making a broken world aware of the magnificence of rambling jazz, drones and ranting combo One More Grain.
